Overview
Rohtak Zoo, located within the picturesque Tilyar Lake complex in Rohtak district, is one of the oldest and most visited zoological parks in Haryana. Spread across approximately 43 Acres(16.69 Hectare), the zoo is nestled within a serene, forested environment surrounding the lake and serves as a center for wildlife conservation, education, and recreation. Established in 1986, the zoo was developed to promote awareness about India’s rich wildlife while offering citizens, especially children and students, a chance to experience and learn about native species in a semi-natural setting.
Animal Diversity
The zoo is home to a variety of mammals, reptiles, and birds, providing both educational and conservational value. The enclosures have been progressively modernized to meet the standards of the Central Zoo Authority (CZA).
